1. Use public transport – for free!

Did you know that on average 70 per cent of emissions at events are caused by mobility? According to the Federal Environment Agency, one kilometre travelled in a diesel or petrol-powered car is over 15 times more harmful to the climate than a kilometre travelled by train. So why not travel by public transport? Every ticket for the Ruhrtriennale 2024 is a "KombiTicket" and valid on the day of the event in the entire Rhine-Ruhr transport network (VRR) on all buses and local trains (2nd class) for the outward and return journey to and from the venue. The tickets are valid on the day of the visit until 3 a.m. the following day. The tickets are not transferable.

2. Introductions on site – or online

Would you like to familiarise yourself with the themes of the production before the performance? Then come to the introduction at the venue! In-person introductory talks will take place on site an hour before the performance starts.

In addition, once the festival has started, audio introductions will be released for many of the productions and can be found at ruhr3.com/audio

3. Benefit from discounts and save money when buying tickets

Pupils, students, unemplyed and famlies, among others, receive discounts when buying tickets. Holders of the Ruhrkultur.Card or the KulturPass can also save money. You can find a complete list of our discounts and other promotions at ruhr3.com/tickets

4. Free services around the festival centre Wunderland

For the next three years our new festival centre Wunderland, designed by Belgian architect Olivier Goethals, will extend around the water tower by the Jahrhunderthalle. The beating heart of the festival will bring the Ruhrtriennale’s various different productions together in one place. Every weekend there are a variety of workshops on offer, musicians from different productions play excerpts from the upcoming evenings and the Down The Rabbit Hole party series fills the piazza next to the Pumpenhaus with cross-genre sounds. Be sure to drop by!

5. Accessible services

The Ruhrtriennale wishes that as many people as possible are able to participate in what the festival has to offer. It works closely with organisations and institutions to provide access and expand services for wheelchair users and people with impaired mobility as well as for deaf, hearing impaired, blind, sight impaired and neurodivergent people. You can find an overview of services for a accessible visit at ruhr3.com/barrierefrei

6. Stay the night!

For all visitors who would like to book a hotel for their stay in the Ruhr area, we recommend an overnight stay in one of our partner hotels in the cities of Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. Show your Ruhrtriennale ticket or your order confirmation when booking and receive exclusive conditions. You can find an overview of our partner hotels and the respective conditions at ruhr3.com/reisen
